Elim Carpenter

Statement for Vice President
I am running for the position of Vice President for Region 507, Association of California State Supervisors. Currently, I am a Supervisor of Academic Instruction for the Correctional Training Facility, an institution within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
My educational background consists of an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. My other degrees include an M.B.A. with an emphasis in General Management, and a B.S. in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. My prior positions with the State of CA were as a Teacher at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison and as a Supervisor of Academic Instruction at the California State Prison, Solano.
My current education administrator position at CTF requires that I supervise teachers, physical education coaches and librarians. Together we keep the students motivated and on course towards graduation from high school or college as well as learning an employable trade.
Please vote for me, Elim Carpenter, as chapter 507's Vice President. I would endeavor to represent you and advocate for your rights as supervisory employees. I would support the chapter’s goals, help to grow the chapter membership and step in during the absence of the chapter President.
Thank you.

Thomas Jacob

Statement for Delegate
I work at California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB) as Information technology Manager II in the role of Deputy CIO. I have been with State Service since October 2014 and always with CalVCB. I am a remote centered employee working from Hollister, CA in San Benito County for four days a week and work on all Mondays at our Head Quarters at Sacramento. I have been in a supervisor or manager role since December 2018. I would like to be involved in the activities of the ACSS. I think with my several years of State Service and observing the challenges the State employees, especially supervisors and managers face, I would be able to participate in activities of ACSS to make progress in the right direction for State Supervisors which in turn will improve the life of California citizens. I would like to participate in any activities that CASS pursues, but I am interested in sharing the challenges we are facing due to low salary and the related hiring challenges. Unequal work at site policies among different agencies.

Celeste Joya

Statement for Delegate
I started my journey with the California Highway Patrol in November 2007 as an Office Assistant. Stayed in this position for 12 years then was promoted to Office Service Supervisor I in 2019. I have grown while working with the CHP and have learned a lot while working from my fellow co workers. I love the CHP and everything we stand for . It is a honor working with California Highway Patrol.

Nicole Stewart

Statement for Delegate
My name is Nicole Stewart. I work for the California Highway Patrol - Monterey Communications Center, as a Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor II. I became a member of ACSS in 2016, in an effort to become more knowledgeable in how to navigate the challenges that are faced by state supervisors. I had the privilege of representing Chapter 507 as a Delegate at our 13th Annual Delegate Assembly in 2021. In order to ensure adequate representation for our Chapter at this year's assembly I am requesting your support again this year serve as a Delegate for our Chapter. I am a committed member of our Chapter and look forward to the opportunity. Thank you in advance for your support. - Nicole

Statement for Chapter President
My name is Nicole Stewart. I work for the California Highway Patrol - Monterey Communications Center, as a Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor II. I joined ACSS in 2016 and was elected as Chapter 507 Delegate in 2021. In that role I had the privilege to represent Chapter 507 at our 13th Annual Delegate Assembly in 2021. Since then, I have taken on the role of Chapter President and have been in that role since 2021. One of the reasons I joined and became more involved in ACSS was to expand my knowledge of how to best address the unique compaction issues related to supervisory classifications within my specific series. What I found for our issue was not unique and getting involved and having our voices heard was step one in addressing our concerns. As a Chapter Officer I have had the opportunity to meet many Chapter members and helped them with getting their questions answered and concerns addressed. Since starting at the height of COVID restrictions I am still working on getting fully acclimated to my current role and would love your support in continuing as you Chapter President. - Nicole
