Governor Newsom has vetoed ACSS-sponsored AB 1729. Despite the veto, ACSS will use the legislative support for AB 1729 to urge the next Administration to implement a sensible flexible telework policy.
The Senate Appropriations Committee passed AB 1729 and moved it to the committee suspense file where it will be heard on August 13, 2026.

On May 27, 2026, AB 1729 passed in the Assembly with an official vote of 67-7.
